In September, Exelcom selected Ericsson to build its 3G/WCDMA network in Indonesia. It will provide higher data rates and enhance the end-user experience through High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA). Ericsson has also been chosen to supply its Mobile Softswitch Solution for nationwide deployment, as well as business consulting services. Now, Indosat has selected Nokia. Nokia has won a W-CDMA/HSPA network and managed services contract with Indonesian operator Indosat, which owns local mobile services provider Satelindo, the vendor said in a statement. The pair have extended their cooperation agreement, signing a deall that will enable Indosat to offer 3G and wireless broadband services across the country. Nokia will provide turnkey services, including civil works, network planning, implementation and integration of the network. It will also install a core radio network, including the modular, high capacity Nokia Flexi W-CDMA base station in East Java, Bali, Sumatra and Batam. Nokia 3G devices are also being delivered as part of the contract. Deliveries have started and the network will be ready for a launch later this month. PT Hutchison CP Telecommunications began some time back, and PT Natrindo Telepon Seluler started in January 2006. |
